Mike joined first the Army National Guard, where he began his career at the very bottom. He quickly rose to the rank of Specialist as a Field Artillery expert with the 2/101 Cavalry. During his last deployment to Afghanistan, Michael performed his primary duties as well as many others. Michael was always the first soldier to raise his hand and volunteer his services regardless of the time, location or duty.

![]() His service to our nation did not substitute or overshadow his service to the local community. In 2006 Mike joined the Grand Island Volunteer Fire Department. He rose through the ranks in that fine institution as well, becoming a Lieutenant in 2009 and serving as Vice President starting in 2010. He assisted all residents in need being a first responder to countless vehicle accidents, fires and rescues presented by the rigors of life in a close community. Many local residents have seen Mike on their worst days, with his contagious smile and helpful assistance.
In addition to all this philanthropic work, Mike also managed a successful career working full time as a forklift operator at the Goodyear Dunlop plant in North Tonawanda, NY. Life seemed busy, but contentedly full for this bright and happy American person, until 2010. |

Suddenly, in June of 2010 Mike was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Over the first few days Mike was faced with decisions and thoughts that are often foreign to men at the age of only 25. Michael and Tiffanie have chosen to fight this disease tooth and nail with love, treatment, help, and prayers from friends and strangers alike. Please continue to have positive thoughts for this young couple and assist them in their battle against this terrible disease in any way possible. Thank you for your support
